Australia & Asia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
August 2011
I'd had enough of work, my girlfriend at the time had just finished uni and she wanted to go travelling in South East Asia. I didn't need asking twice!

We went for 4 months and our first stop was Malaysia. What a country! I loved everything about it. But I got this photo in a lightening storm (hence the strange lighting) at the foot of the iconic Petronus Towers.

Bangkok, Thailand
September 2011
No backpacking trip to South East Asia is complete without visiting Thailand. I have to say, out of 5 countries I visited on this trip (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia), Thailand was my least favourite.

But, that's probably because we were staying on the Koh San Road (not the nicest area) in a £2 a night B&B.

Ankor Wat, Cambodia
September 2011
Thailand was my least favourite country on my 4 month South East Asia trip, but Cambodia was my favourite. Such amazing places and experiences.

The history of the Khmer Rouge is horrific and there's still a lot of evidence of it. But, out of all of my travels, I struggle to think of a happier nation than the Cambodians.

Vientiane, Laos
September 2011
I knew very little about Laos and we only went because it was there. It's basically part of the route you take through the region.

It was ok, I'm glad I've been, but I wouldn't rush back. There's not a lot there.

Hong Kong
September 2015
A last minute business trip. We had a big opportunity to sell to Hong Kong airport, so we jumped on a flight. We did the round trip in 60 hours, all for a 60 minute meeting.

It seems like a really interesting place, but I had very little time to explore and take it all in.

We didn't win the deal with the airport!

Sydney, Australia
October 2018
We did a short trip to Marrakesh, Morocco straight after our wedding in 2017 because we knew we were going to do a big trip for our main honeymoon.

We did a tour of Australia including; Melbourne, The Great Ocean Road, Cairns, The Blue Mountains, Port Douglas, The Daintree Rainforest and a whole load of other stuff. But, here I am in Sydney in front of the iconic opera house.

BONUS: Green Island, Australia
October 2018
I had to include this photo too! My wife and I are qualified scuba divers and we've dived in some amazing places. This photo was taken on the Great Barrier Reef. I wore my shirt and we had this amazing experience with a Green Sea Turtle.

Singapore
October 2018
We stopped off in Singapore on our way home from Australia. Impressive City with a surprising amount to do and see for such a small place.

Maldives
December 2021
After a frustrating couple of years, Covid rules were finally relaxing. We could travel again! Our first trip in more than 2 years. We went, pretty much exclusively, to scuba dive. It did not disappoint. Amazing diving in paradise.

Mount Kinabalu, Borneo
February 2023
This was supposed to be the trip we did for my 40th birthday, but thanks to Covid, it was cancelled. We managed to go almost 3 years later.

I love orangutans and we were lucky enough to see them in the wild. This photo was taken during our climb of the 4,095m Mount Kinabalu. This remains the toughest thing I've ever done physically. Was it worth it? Absolutely!
